First Parrot Babies of 2015

April 12, 2015

It's that time of year again...

These tiny, tiny babies were rescued from a felled tree by a BTL Telcoms engineer in Corozal.

He did a truly fabulous job of keeping them warm and safe all the way to his home in Dangriga. His wife Arshellie immediately contacted BBR, and Sarah and Nancy headed down to Dangriga to meet the wonderful family and their precious charges.

From a description of birds in the area of fallen nest, they are likely to be yellow loreds. They are only hours old: the smallest weighs 10g.

Nancy warmed food and then Sarah showed Arshellie and her young daughter how delicate the feeding process is.

Arshellie’s little girl cried real tears when the babies left her home, but she knows it’s the best thing and they're in good hands.

After 200 miles of travelling, they are safely tucked in a warm 'nest', so far doing well: eating, begging and pooping as they should do.

Fantastic job everyone and thank you to Arshellie and her family for caring for these amazing creatures.
