Job opportunity for avian rehab trainee

Employment Opportunity at Belize Bird Rescue

​

We are very excited to announce an opening for a Belizean National or Resident to join our dynamic NGO dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of all bird species in Belize. This is a full-time position on a 3-month trial, potentially leading to permanent employment for the right trainee.

​

The successful candidate will be expected to become an integral part of a small, cohesive and committed team and will be working with all species of native birds, carrying out all aspects of BBR’s work including diets and husbandry, hand-feeding techniques, handling, behaviour recognition and rehabilitation tasks.

No experience is necessary as full training will be given.

​

This position includes working in all-weather conditions. You must be truly passionate about birds and have a love for all animals, no exceptions! Applicants should be receptive to training and want to learn every aspect of avian rehabilitation. This position may lead to permanent employment.

​

Applicants must be:

•             Passionate about wildlife

•             Belizean National or Resident

•             English and Spanish speaking

•             Live in close proximity to, and be able to get themselves to and from the Rescue Centre in Roaring Creek, Cayo District

•             Willing to work as part of a small team, as well as independently

Must also have a good standard of written English.

No experience in avian rehabilitation is necessary as full training will be given. Qualifications and/or experience in the field of conservation is a distinct advantage.

Hours of employment: 7:30am to 4pm with 1 hour for lunch, Monday to Friday. Morning hours for feeding will be requested and required on an alternate-shift rota basis
