Since 2004, Belize Bird Rescue (BBR) has been the country’s only multi-species avian rehabilitation centre. We rescue, rehabilitate, and release Belize’s wild birds, with a focus on wild-caught parrots freed from the illegal pet trade.
Our Impact

300+ birds rescued every year — from parrots and raptors to toucans and waterbirds.

A 50-acre reserve shelters hundreds of released parrots and over 140 wild species.

A fully equipped clinic, flight aviaries, raptor barns, and waterbird enclosures to provide world-class rehabilitation.

A national role in wildlife law enforcement, enabling the Government of Belize to rescue wildlife and prosecute wildlife crimes.

Seasonal field programs that protect endangered yellow-headed Amazons, monitor nests, and rescue chicks at risk from poaching.
All of this is achieved with just five dedicated staff and an annual budget of less than US$120,000.
