31 March 2026 - Deadline to Register Your Captive Parrot

The final deadline to apply for a Captive Parrot Permit under the Belize Forest Department’s captive parrot licensing programme is fast approaching.

This government-led initiative allows people who have long-term, wild-caught parrots in their care to apply for a legal permit so they can continue caring for these birds in compliance with Belize’s wildlife laws.

Belize Bird Rescue is assisting with resources and guidance for applicants, but permits are issued and administered solely by the Forest Department.

If you currently care for a wild-caught parrot and have not yet applied, you must submit your application before 31 March 2026 to comply with the law.
