When a hawk couldn’t fly, a quick call from a local school made all the difference.
We had a call from a local school yesterday about a roadside hawk perched on their fence, unable to fly. The teacher was worried, both because the school sits on a busy Belmopan road and it was approaching the lunchtime rush, and because curious children might unintentionally cause harm to the bird or themselves.
Oscar and Miguel were on the scene quickly and safely captured the hawk. While there are no obvious fractures, something is clearly wrong, so he’s now in our care. He’s alert and able to perch and flap, which is a good sign.
We’ll keep you updated on this little patient, and as always, we’re hoping for a full recovery and thank you as always to everyone involved in his rescue.
